Principal's Message

MP
Greetings, Oak Street Community,

My name is Miguel A Perez, your new principal, and I want to welcome all of our new and returning families to the 2019-2020 school year.

I look forward to an amazing new school year. I am confident that this year will be exciting and filled with rewarding and challenging experiences. I wanted to confirm to you my commitment to the students of Oak Street Elementary.
I want to continue building on that success and reflect on how we can challenge ourselves to be a more cohesive learning community. This year, our emphasis will be working with Cycles of Inquiry, Collaboration, and Shared Leadership to meet the hurdles ahead.
All of us at Oak Street Elementary are eager and excited to begin what promises to be the best year ever.  This year is going to be amazing as we continue to provide academic experiences for our students that are rigorous, relevant, and help them build relationships while making real-world connections.  We will accomplish this by focusing on IUSD 100% Commitment to Excellence, Collaboration, and Wellness.

We will achieve our District goals by continuing the implementation of our Strategic Plan: The Inglewood Graduate: Ready from Day One!  We will take a deeper dive into the blueprint of the Strategic Plan:
Our Mission, Our Equity Principle, and Our Core Beliefs
Our Five  Commitments
Our Four Pillars
Professional Practices for Instructional Effectiveness
Aligning the Instructional Core
Our Roadmap: Twelve Strategic Priorities

As your Principal, it is important to me that everyone who steps through our doors - teachers, students, and parents - are excited to be here!  This attitude enables us to meet the challenges of academic excellence in a positive, fun, and nurturing environment.

In the handbook, you will find the answers to many questions about our school policies and procedures.  Please read it carefully and keep it in a safe place for reference throughout the year.
Stay in communication with your child’s teacher through face-to-face conferences, phone calls, email, or written communication.  You will also receive a weekly school messenger, so make sure we have an accurate phone number on file in the main office.

The support from our families is essential to every staff member at Oak Street.  Do not hesitate to contact me or any of our staff if you have any questions or concerns.   My door is always open, and I welcome your input. Remember that your child’s success depends on us working as a TEAM!

I look forward to collaborating with you as a team to help each student at Oak Street Elementary meet their educational goals and have a successful school year!

Dream Big! Word!
Best regards,
Miguel A Perez
