Hi Lion Nation,
This is your weekly messenger for week # 39.
As we close this unorthodox school year, I want to say thank you to you! I am proud of our community for your resilience, hard work, and dedication to your students and our community. As I mentioned in a previous message, we have so much to celebrate over these last two years. Officially, beginning next year, Oak Street School will be a TK to 8th grade school, Yay! All the students in 7th grade will automatically roll over to 8th grade. All the students in TK through 6th grades will also be rolled over to the next grade level. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions.
In case you were not aware, the “B and C” Buildings are now in operation and work continues to complete the “A” Building. The construction work will continues through the summer months. As the construction crew continue the work on the “A” Building, termite damage continues to be revealed which in turn pushes back the completion date. At the end of the day, we want to ensure that modernization work is done correctly and if that means waiting a bit longer then we will have to wait. Remember, Rome was not built in a day!
End of the Year Certificates
I wanted to congratulate all our students who were recognized during our End of the Year celebration. This year students were honored for Outstanding Participation and Academic Progress. In addition, we also recognized our students who reclassified from English Learner to Redesignated Fluent English Proficient. This is a huge achievement in these students’ lives and I could not be more proud of these students. The following students reclassified: Jayleen Chavez, Jose Gonzalez, Alexa Gutierrez, Mireya Hernandez, Carlos Mazariegos-Temaj, and Branny Solis-Casillas. Lastly, our PTA also honored students in every classroom. The students that were recognized were honored using the following criteria: Academics, Participation, Citizenship, Effort, & Responsibility. These students will receive a $15 dollar gift certificate to Target from our PTA. PTA certificates can be picked up at school on Wednesday, June 16, 2021, from 1 to 3pm. All other End of the Year certificates can be picked up this week from 8:30am to 3pm. Way to go Lion Nation!
Final Reminder for Textbook, Technology Device, and Music Material Return
This week, we will continue to collect textbooks, music instruments (TK-2nd grade will return their egg shakers, 3rd -5th graders will return their recorders, and 7th grade students will need to return their ukuleles), and in some cases technology devices. As a reminder, all students returning to Oak Street School next year will be allowed to keep their Chromebooks, students in TK-1st grade will also be allowed to keep their iPads. Students in 2nd grade will need to return their iPads and any student leaving Oak Street permanently will also need to return their Chromebook and iPad.
Please make sure you sign up with your student’s teacher for a materials return time.
Tomorrow, June 7, students in 2nd and 3rd grade will return materials, and lastly, students in TK, Kindergarten and 1st grades will return their materials on June 8, 2021. Students in grades 4th through 7th grades who have not returned their materials will receive a phone call scheduling an appointment to return their materials. It is critical

Kindergarten Promotion
This year, Oak Street School will host a Drive-thru Kindergarten Promotion on Thursday, June 10, 2021, from 12 to 1pm. The Drive-thru Kindergarten Promotion will be at the end of Spruce Street, adjacent to the school parking lot. All three Kindergarten teachers will be on hand to congratulate their promotees and provide them with a promotion certificate. Our PTA will also provide all our kindergarten promotees with a gift card to Yogurtland and a certificate to Shakey’s Pizza, along with a special card. This is a Drive-thru event and for safety reasons, families will not be allowed to leave their vehicles. We look forward to seeing our Kindergarten families on Thursday to celebrate our Kindergarten class of 2021.

Hola Nacion León,
Este es su mensajero semanal para la semana # 39.
Al cerrar este año escolar poco ortodoxo, ¡quiero agradecerles! Estoy orgulloso de nuestra comunidad por su resistencia, trabajo arduo y dedicación a sus estudiantes y nuestra comunidad. Como mencioné en un mensaje anterior, tenemos mucho que celebrar estos dos últimos años. Oficialmente, a partir del próximo año, la escuela Oak Street será una escuela de TK a octavo grado, ¡Yay! Todos los estudiantes del séptimo grado pasarán automáticamente al octavo grado. Todos los estudiantes de TK a 6º grado también pasarán al siguiente nivel de grado. No dudes en comunicarte con nosotros si tienes alguna pregunta.
En caso de que no lo supiera, los Edificios "B y C" ya están en funcionamiento y se sigue trabajando para completar el Edificio "A". El trabajo de construcción continuará durante los meses de verano. A medida que el equipo de construcción continúa el trabajo en el Edificio "A", el daño de las termitas continúa siendo revelado, lo que a su vez retrasa la fecha de finalización. Al final del día, queremos asegurarnos de que el trabajo de modernización se realice correctamente y si eso significa esperar un poco más, tendremos que esperar. Recuerde, ¡Roma no se construyó en un día!
Certificados de fin de año
Quería felicitar a todos nuestros estudiantes que fueron reconocidos durante nuestra celebración de fin de año. Este año, los estudiantes fueron honrados por su participación y progreso académico sobresalientes. Además, también reconocimos a nuestros estudiantes que se reclasificaron de Aprendices de inglés a Estudiantes de inglés con fluidez reasignados. Este es un gran logro en la vida de estos estudiantes y no podría estar más orgulloso de estos estudiantes. Los siguientes estudiantes reclasificados: Jayleen Chavez, Jose Gonzalez, Alexa Gutierrez, Mireya Hernandez, Carlos Mazariegos-Temaj y Branny Solis-Casillas. Por último, nuestra P.T.A. también honró a los estudiantes en cada salón de clases. Recordatorio final para la devolución de libros de texto, dispositivos tecnológicos y material musical
Esta semana, continuaremos recolectando libros de texto, instrumentos musicales (TK-2do grado devolverá sus batidores de huevos, 3 ° a 5 ° grado devolverán sus grabadoras y los estudiantes de 7 ° grado necesitarán para devolver sus ukeleles) y, en algunos casos, dispositivos tecnológicos. Las tres maestras de jardín estarán disponibles para felicitar a sus promovidos y entregarles un certificado de promoción. Nuestro P.T.A. también proporcionará a todos nuestros kindergarten promovidos de una tarjeta de regalo para Yogurtland y un certificado para Shakey's Pizza, junto con una tarjeta especial.
