This is an important message from Mr. Perez, Principal at Oak Street School
Dearest Oak Street Community,
I am writing to inform you that I will be transitioning from my position as principal at Oak Street School to my new role as the Director of K-12 English Learner Services for the Inglewood Unified School District.
In my new role, I will work closely with teachers, administrative personnel, parents, and community members to provide professional development and support to influence, motivate, and monitor the goals and objectives of the District with regards to curriculum, instruction, and assessment.
This is an opportunity to leverage my experience and expertise while working with teachers, administrators, and parents in IUSD to create systems and procedures to meet the growing demands and needs of our students and community.
I have enjoyed serving as our Oak Street principal these last two years. I am deeply impressed with our community and staff’s commitment to student achievement and excellence.
When I arrived, you received me with open hearts and open minds, and for this, I will be eternally grateful. As challenging as the last two years have been, we have grown to be a more cohesive and collaborative decision-making team.
In a short period, we have accomplished so much. Using student data to drive our decisions, we created Data Walls, participated in Data Summits and Instructional Rounds, and we elevated our technological skills. We now have an incredible music program, and we have transformed ourselves into a TK-7 school setting, just to name a few of our accomplishments.
One of our crowning achievements is having the highest number of Parent Teacher Association (PTA) memberships in the district two years in a row! Additionally, our English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC) and School Site Council (SSC) have seen our highest number of participants in years. We all should be proud!
The District will begin a collaborative process to find a new leader for Oak Street School. I will continue to be your principal until a replacement is selected, and I will be available to support your new leader during the transition period.
Oak Street School will always have a special place in my heart because of you!

Querida Comunidad de Oak Street,
Les escribo para informarle que haré la transición de mi puesto como director en la Escuela Oak Street a mi nuevo puesto como Director de Servicios de Inglés para Estudiantes de K-12 para El Distrito Escolar Unificado de Inglewood.
En mi nueva función, trabajaré en estrecha colaboración con los maestros, el personal administrativo, los padres y los miembros de la comunidad para brindar desarrollo profesional y apoyo para influir, motivar y monitorear las metas y objetivos del Distrito con respecto al plan de estudios, la instrucción y la evaluación.
Esta es una oportunidad para aprovechar mi experiencia y pericia mientras trabajo con maestros, administradores y padres en el distrito para crear sistemas y procedimientos que satisfagan la creciente demandas y necesidades de nuestros estudiantes y comunidad.
He disfrutado servir como nuestro director de la Escuela Oak Street estos últimos dos años. Estoy profundamente impresionado con el compromiso de nuestra comunidad y nuestro personal con el logro y la excelencia de los estudiantes.
Cuando llegué, me recibieron con el corazón y la mente abierta, y por esto estaré eternamente agradecido. Por más desafiantes que hayan sido los últimos dos años, hemos crecido hasta convertirnos en un equipo de toma de decisiones más cohesivo y colaborativo.
En poco tiempo, hemos logrado mucho. Usando datos de los estudiantes para conducir nuestras decisiones, y creamos muros de datos, participamos en cumbres de datos y rondas de instrucción, y hemos elevado nuestras habilidades tecnológicas. Ahora tenemos un programa de música increíble y nos hemos transformado en un entorno escolar de TK-7, solo por nombrar algunos de nuestros logros.
¡Uno de nuestros logros más importantes es tener el mayor número de membresías de la Asociación de Padres y Maestros (PTA) en el distrito dos años seguidos! Además, nuestro Comité Asesor de Estudiantes de Inglés (ELAC) y el Consejo del Plantel Escolar (SSC) han visto nuestro mayor número de participantes en años. ¡Todos deberíamos estar orgullosos!
El Distrito comenzará un proceso de colaboración para encontrar un nuevo líder para la Escuela Oak Street. Seguiré siendo su director hasta que se seleccione un reemplazo y estaré disponible para apoyar a su nuevo líder durante el período de transición.
¡Oak Street School siempre tendrá un lugar especial en mi corazón gracias a ti!
