Dear Oak Street Elementary School Community,
Happy Week 6! As we head into our sixth week of school campus closures, I hope you have adjusted into a routine with your child. I want to thank you and acknowledge your patience, flexibility, and support. I loved seeing the posts #WeAreInglewoodUnified on social media. It was great to see how we can come together as a community, even when we are physically apart. Below are some updates for the week.
Chromebook Distribution
Last Thursday, we held our final Chromebook distribution. I wanted to thank the following staff members for helping at Thursday’s distribution: Ms. Szabo, Ms. Dufek, Ms. Lyons, Ms. Ghislandi, Ms. Wagner, Ms. R. Perez, and Ms. Correa. In total, we checked out almost 250 Chromebooks to our community. We hope this will help our community with our ongoing Distance Learning.
Teacher Communication and Classwork Assignments
Oak Street teachers are deeply committed to you and your children. As a team, we continue to communicate with you on an ongoing basis to ensure that your child is acquiring the support they need during this transitional learning phase. Additionally, teachers are assigning English Language Arts (ELA) assignments in the Think Central icon in your child’s ClassLink account. Your child can also continue their individualized math and ELA learning by clicking on the iReady, Imagine Learning, and Smarty Ants icons in the ClassLink launchpad. If your child is having problems logging on, please contact your child’s teacher or call the Technology Helpline at 310-419-5100.
Census 2020
It is important that every person living in Inglewood and Los Angeles County is counted in the 2020 Census. Each person counted in the Census means more resources directed to our community, such as school improvements, roads, hospitals, and children’s healthcare. This is a once-in-a-decade opportunity to guarantee funding for Inglewood. The self-response process is simple and quick. Just click on the following link at My2020census.gov, and you will be guided through the Census questionnaire.
Social Justice Learning Institute Response Fund
In response to the immediate needs of our community, the Social Justice Learning Institute (SJLI) has created a COVID-19 Basic Needs Response Fund to support the residents in the Inglewood area and surrounding communities of Hawthorne, Lennox, Lawndale, and South LA. To access support, please complete the Basic Needs Intake Form at www.sjli.org to apply for services and or assistance you need as a result of the current COVID-19 crisis. Programmatic services and financial support is made available on a first-come, first-served basis. Upon completion of the form, an SJLI team member will reach out to you.
Continuity of Learning
Our new, upgraded IUSD “Continuity of Learning” webpage at www.inglewoodusd.com has been designed and created for you and your child. It is filled with a variety of new learning activities. Please make sure to access it according to grade level and subject area. Also, if your child is still in need of a laptop to access the web materials and activities, please your child’s teacher.
Food Distribution
We continue to distribute meals for students at seven sites throughout the district. Locations and times can be found at www.inglewoodusd.com. Every Wednesday, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., at Hudnall Elementary School, the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank provides "Shelf-Stable Food” to families in the community. Supplies are limited to 280 boxes. And on Fridays, from 9:30 am to 11:30 am, at Hudnall Elementary School, the Social Justice Learning Institute and Food Forward will continue to provide 200 bags of fresh fruits and vegetables for families. Distributions are on a first-come, first-served basis.

Censo 2020
Es importante que cada persona que vive en Inglewood y el condado de Los Ángeles se cuente en el Censo 2020. Cada persona contada en el Censo significa más recursos dirigidos a nuestra comunidad, como renovaciones escolares, calles, hospitales, y la salud de nuestros niños Esta es una oportunidad que solamente ocurre cada década para garantizar fondos para Inglewood. El proceso de auto-respuesta es simple y rápido. Solamente haga clic en el enlace My2020census.gov, y se le guiará a través del cuestionario del Censo.
Fondo de respuesta del Instituto de Aprendizaje de Justicia Social
En respuesta a las necesidades inmediatas de nuestra comunidad, el Instituto de Aprendizaje de Justicia Social (SJLI) ha creado un Fondo de Respuesta a Necesidades Básicas COVID-19 para apoyar a los residentes en el área de Inglewood y las comunidades circundantes de Hawthorne, Lennox, Lawndale, y South LA. Para acceder al soporte, complete el Formulario de admisión de necesidades básicas en el sitio www.sjli.org para solicitar los servicios o la asistencia que necesita como resultado de la crisis actual de COVID-19. Continuidad de aprendizaje
Nuestra nueva y mejorada página de internet IUSD “Continuidad de aprendizaje” en www.inglewoodusd.com ha sido diseñada y creada para usted y su hijo/a. Incluye una variedad de nuevas actividades de aprendizaje. Asegúrese de acceder de acuerdo con el nivel corecto. Además, si su hijo todavía necesita una computadora portátil para acceder a los materiales y las actividades del internet, por favor, comuniquese con el maestro se du hijo/a.
Distribución de alimentos
Continuamos distribuyendo comidas para estudiantes en siete sitios en todo el distrito. Se pueden encontrar ubicaciones y horarios en www.inglewoodusd.com.
