This is your weekly messenger for week # 17.
Appointment Required for School Business
A gentle reminder for safety reasons, you must have an appointment prior to coming to the school’s main office. Please call us at 310-680-5340 to schedule your appointment. Additionally, last week, we were provided with a temperature check kiosk. This is a hands-free temperature check device. We have set it up so that it is the first thing that any visitor encounters when they come into our main office.
As part of our safety protocols, we usually have staff at the entrance asking parents the Health Department's pre-screening questions. Though we are all familiar with these questions, I am including them here for your reference:
- Did any of the following symptoms appear within the last ten days:
- Fever (at or over 100.4 F)
- Chills
- Cough
- Shortness of breath
- Difficulty breathing.
Prior to that initial screening, we have social distance markers (orange cones) on the ground outside of the main office. We will only let one person at a time into the main office (one parent and child/children). Remember, all visitors to our school are directed to check-in at the main office, before going anywhere else on campus. As soon as visitors (staff included) enter the main office they encounter the temperature check kiosk. It will read the temperature of any visitor. If anyone is deemed to have a high temperature, we will politely inform them that we will be able to serve them remotely, as opposed to in-person, at the moment.
Winter Music Recital This Week
Our Winter Music Recital Showcase will take place virtually during your student’s regularly assigned music class date and time. These dates are December 14, 15, and 17, 2020. Your student’s teacher has a flyer with the date, time, and a link to the classroom performance. Please contact your student’s teacher for further details.
IUSD Virtual Spirit Week
In order to promote some virtual fun and holiday spirit, IUSD is kicking off a Winter Spirit Week! The fun kicks off on Monday, December 14th and runs through Friday, December 18th. Students are encouraged to participate in the virtual fun by wearing various holiday items including hats, socks, headbands, and more. Each day has a different focus. We can’t wait to see what fun outfits students wear! Click here for the Spirit Week schedule.
Book Distribution Grades Kindergarten, 3rd, and 5th Grades
This Wednesday, December 16, 2020, we have an important book distribution. Your student's teacher should have communicated with you so that you can sign-up for an appointment between the hours of 9 to 12pm at Oak Street School. Sign-up sheets are located in your student's Google Classroom. If you have not signed up, you must sign-up in order to pick up those essential materials before Monday. For safety reasons, you must have an appointment. Please reach out to your student's teacher if you have any questions. Make sure you are wearing a face cover and social distancing during your pick-up time.
Message from Mr. Norberto Perez, Chief Operating Officer, Overseeing IUSD Safety & Operations
Since March, we have been planning for a safe reopening, in the event, we are instructed to do so by health officials. We have been preparing to continue to implement the highest safety standards with both expert and stakeholder guidance. I encourage you to watch the Health and Safety Plan presentation here that was publicly shared at our last board meeting. The presentation shares a summary of what we have done since March, and what we plan to do if and when we reopen for face-to-face instruction. If you haven’t already, please complete this survey to share your thoughts as we continue planning.

Este es su mensajero semanal para la semana # 17.
Cita requerida para asuntos escolares
Un recordatorio amable por razones de seguridad, debe tener una cita antes de venir a la oficina principal de la escuela. Llámenos al 310-680-5340 para programar su cita. Además, la semana pasada, se nos proporcionó un quiosco de control de temperatura. Este es un dispositivo de control de temperatura manos libres. Lo hemos configurado para que sea lo primero que encuentre cualquier visitante cuando ingrese a nuestra oficina principal.
Como parte de nuestros protocolos de seguridad, por lo general tenemos personal en la entrada que les hace a los padres las preguntas previas al examen del Departamento de Salud. Aunque todos estamos familiarizados con estas preguntas, las incluyo aquí para su referencia:
- ¿Apareció alguno de los siguientes síntomas en los últimos diez días:
- Fiebre (a 100.4 F o más)
- Escalofríos
- Tos
- Falta de aire
- Dificultad para respirar.
Antes de la proyección inicial, tenemos marcadores de distancia social (conos naranja) en el suelo fuera de la oficina principal. Solo dejaremos entrar a una persona a la vez en la oficina principal (un padre y un niño / niños). Recuerde, todos los visitantes de nuestra escuela deben registrarse en la oficina principal antes de ir a cualquier otro lugar del campus. Tan pronto como los visitantes (incluido el personal) ingresan a la oficina principal, se encuentran con el quiosco de control de temperatura. Leerá la temperatura de cualquier visitante. Si se considera que alguien tiene fiebre alta, le informaremos cortésmente que podremos atenderle de forma remota, en lugar de en persona, en este momento.
Recital de música de invierno esta semana
Nuestra exhibición de recitales de música de invierno se llevará a cabo virtualmente durante la fecha y hora de la clase de música asignada regularmente a su estudiante. Estas fechas son el 14, 15 y 17 de diciembre de 2020. El maestro de su estudiante tiene un volante con la fecha, la hora y un enlace al desempeño en el aula. Comuníquese con el maestro de su estudiante para obtener más detalles.
Semana de Espíritu Virtual de IUSD
Para promover un poco de diversión virtual y espíritu navideño, IUSD está iniciando una Semana de espíritu de invierno! La diversión comienza el lunes 14 de diciembre y termina el viernes 18 de diciembre. Se anima a los estudiantes a participar en la diversión virtual usando varios artículos navideños como sombreros, calcetines, cintas para la cabeza y más. Cada día tiene un enfoque diferente. ¡No podemos esperar a ver qué trajes divertidos usan los estudiantes! Haga clic aquí para ver el horario de la Semana del Espíritu.
Distribución de libros Grados Kindergarten, 3º y 5º grados
Este miércoles 16 de diciembre de 2020, tenemos una importante distribución de libros. El maestro de su estudiante debería haberse comunicado con usted para que pueda inscribirse en una cita entre las 9 y las 12pm en la escuela Oak Street. Las hojas de registro se encuentran en el Google Classroom de su estudiante. Si no se ha inscrito, debe inscribirse para recoger esos materiales esenciales antes del lunes. Por razones de seguridad, debe concertar una cita. Comuníquese con el maestro de su estudiante si tiene alguna pregunta. Asegúrese de usar una cubierta facial y distanciamiento social durante la hora de recogida.

Desde marzo, hemos estado planificando una reapertura segura, en caso de que los funcionarios de salud nos lo indiquen. Nos hemos estado preparando para continuar implementando los más altos estándares de seguridad con la orientación de expertos y partes interesadas. Te animo a Vea aquí la presentación del Plan de salud y seguridad que se compartió públicamente en nuestra última reunión de la junta. La presentación comparte un resumen de lo que hemos hecho desde marzo y lo que planeamos hacer si habremos recibido instrucción presencial. Si aún no lo ha hecho, por favor complete esta encuesta para compartir sus pensamientos mientras continuamos planificando.
